At Dahlhausen, near Bochum, is the Eisenbahnmuseum or Railway Museum. It opened here in 1977 on the site of a disused railway and sheds. It covers 46,000 square metres. There are many exhibits in place, including 14 working trains, signals, cranes, water tower, sheds and more. This is an important former industrial railway region, so it is only fitting to have such a museum here. In the summer months, various locomotives offer trips along the old line. This is a popular museum with rail enthusiasts. There are admission fees.
