Burg Arras is one of the castles in the Mosel Valley. It is located close to Alf. The castle was originally built between 900 and 950 as a way of fortifying the valley from raiding Normans. Over the subsequent centuries it saw many events and is linked closely with German history. The main keep of the castle is 25 metres high and has a commanding view over the valley. Since 1900 it has been extensively restored and in private hands. Visitors can now come and look around the castle and its museum. It also operates as a popular hotel.
