Boppard’s City Museum (Stadtmuseum) is the place to go to learn about the history of this town which has a rich history dating back to Roman times. The museum is situated in a tower which was built by King Richard of Cornwall in 1265 to protect the town. It has been home to the museum for over 100 years. As well as displaying much information on the history of Boppard, and showing extensive collections of finds from the Bodobrica Roman fortress, it also has a fine collection of Bentwood Furniture, made by Boppard resident Michael Thonet. Visitors will also see the former castle chapel in the museum building.
