The Bodemuseum was built in 1904. It is a prestigious neo-baroque building set on the Spree Island and part of Berlin’s Museum Island collection of museums. The museum was closed from 1997 to 2006 whilst a period of restoration and updates of its collections took place. The Bode museum has a marvellous entrance hall and situation at the tip of the island. The collection it houses includes sculptures, Byzantine art, coins spanning the history of minting.
