Andechs is a small village atop the Holy Mountain of the same name. It stands at 2,300ft above sea level. The main attraction in the village is the monastery here, which has been a place of pilgrimage for many years. The main church of the complex is a Gothic hall building which was built between 1420 and 1425, with a Rococo interior from 1755. The main altar features impressive statues from 1468 and 1609. There are also holy relics in the church’s possession. Many visitors also come to see (and sample) the monastery’s brewery.
