Bayreuth’s old town hall (Altes Rathaus) is situated near the Altes Schloss palace on Maximilianstrasse. It is a Renaissance building, and today is the home of the city’s Kunstmuseum (art museum), which has modernised the structure slightly in a way which does not detract from its history. The main focus are the collections of 20th century art, which are exhibited on a rotation basis. The museum is open all year and has a small entrance fee.
