Adam Ries was born in Buchholz in 1492. He was a famous German mathematician who published some of the earliest books on arithmetic, which was made widely available to the public because they were not written in Latin. The fourth book he wrote, entitled ‘Cross’ and covering Algebra, was not published until 1992. The museum tells the story of Ries and his lifetime of works. You will see original documents, books, and items used by the man.
